Can I get a reverse mortgage if I still owe money?

19Where should I start?
Start with your goal, timeline, income, assets, credit, debts, and expected property type. An early conversation can identify documents and questions to address before application.
Do you work with first-time buyers?
Yes. First-time buyers can receive education about loan choices, upfront costs, down payment assistance, credit preparation, and the steps from preapproval through closing.
Can veterans buy with no down payment?
Eligible borrowers may use VA financing with no required down payment, subject to entitlement, eligibility, lender approval, property standards, occupancy rules, and other VA requirements. Closing costs and a funding fee may still apply.
How do I know whether a reverse mortgage is appropriate?
Review your goals, equity, expected time in the home, ongoing property-charge obligations, alternatives, costs, and estate considerations with qualified professionals. A reverse mortgage is not appropriate for every household.
